Bearing Construction [EX1-PIG]

Bearing Construction [EX1-PIG]

Please follow the instructions provided below to define construction of substructure bridge components.

1

In a typical design project, the bearing construction should be performed in conjunction with girder construction.

This implies that in the "Girder Construction" spreadsheet, you need to input the same "stage" information for the "Bearing Construction" as you did for the "Girder Construction".

During construction, it is important to connect the two-node spring element to both the girder and pier cap. If a node is left unconnected to any element, it could potentially lead to instability issues for the FEA (Finite Element Analysis) solver.

2

Navigate to Loading > Construction > Substructure > Bearing Construction

3

Click three-dots icon on Stage cell and click select.

4

Select "GirderErection" as stage.

5

Click three-dots icon on Insertion Points cell and click pick.

6

Select all of the Insertion Points that were previously defined from the 3D View.

Then click Done.

1

Navigate to Bearing Construction under Substructure Construction on the tree view.

2

Copy Superstructure Connection Construction from model inputs and paste into OpenBrIM.
