All Wall Segments

Figure 1 illustrates the wall segments that have been generated. To change the type of a wall segment, you can simply select the desired type (vertical or horizontal) from the drop-down menu in the "Wall Segment Type" cell of the "All Wall Segments" spreadsheet.

Figure 2 showcases the wall segment spreadsheets. Within the "All Wall Segments" spreadsheet, you will find a comprehensive list of both vertical and horizontal wall segment types, along with their respective linked shear walls. This allows for easy reference and management of the wall segments in your project.

Vertical Wall Segments

This spreadsheet specifically lists wall segments that are classified as the vertical type. It provides a clear and organized overview of all the vertical wall segments in your project, facilitating easy access and management of the relevant data. In Figure 3, you can find buttons that enable merging and splitting operations for wall segments. These buttons are versatile and can be applied to both vertical and horizontal segments, providing flexibility in managing the layout and configuration of the segments.

Merge Wall Segments

By clicking the "Merge Wall Segments" button, you can merge wall segments that are located on the same floor and the same vertical design line. This functionality enables you to combine multiple wall segments into a single segment, simplifying the representation and management of your structural elements (Figure 4).

Split Vertical

The "Split Vertical" button enables you to split a vertical wall segment into multiple segments along its length. By selecting the desired point on the segment, you can create new segments, dividing the original segment into smaller sections. This functionality allows for precise customization and adjustment of the wall segments to meet specific design requirements or accommodate changes in the structural layout.

In Figure 5a, the initial vertical wall segment is depicted before the split. By selecting the "Split Vertical" button and choosing the desired splitting point on the segment, you can proceed to the next step.

Figure 5b demonstrates the result of splitting the wall segment vertically. The original segment is divided into two separate segments, each representing a distinct portion of the original length.

Split Horizontal

The "Split Horizontal" button, as depicted in Figure 6, facilitates the division of horizontal wall segments into multiple segments. This functionality is particularly useful when you need to create distinct sections within a larger horizontal segment.

By clicking the "Split Horizontal" button, you can define break points along the horizontal wall segment where the division will occur.

Horizontal Wall Segments

When you select a wall segment type as horizontal, as demonstrated in Figure 7, the segment is categorized as a horizontal wall segment. This distinction allows you to differentiate and manage your wall segments based on their orientation and design intent.

The splitting and merging operations, which were previously described for vertical wall segments, are also applicable to horizontal wall segments. This means that you can perform these operations to divide or combine horizontal wall segments according to your project requirements. Whether you need to create separate sections within a horizontal segment or merge multiple segments into a larger unit, the functionality provided by the AEC|BOLT AUTOCAD App allows you to accomplish these tasks with ease.

Figure 8 illustrates the application of splitting and merging operations specifically for horizontal wall segments, providing a visual representation of the corresponding action buttons.
