Vertical Design Lines

Vertical Design Lines

Vertical Design Lines in the AEC|BOLT AUTOCAD App are used to group vertical structural members. Columns are grouped vertically, while shear walls are grouped both vertically and horizontally. Figure 1 shows the user interface of the “Vertical Design Lines”.

Analytical Wall Design Lines

Under this spreadsheet, shear wall analytical lines are grouped vertically.

Generate Wall Design Lines

To group the shear wall analytical lines of stories into a single design line in the vertical direction, click on the "Generate Wall Design Lines" button.

Figure 2

Figure 2 illustrates the generated analytical lines, while Figure 3 shows the placement of analytical design lines within the corresponding analytical wall cell under the "Shear Walls" section.

Add

To add an analytical wall design line row in the spreadsheet, click on “Add” button.

Check Analytical Wall Continuity

To verify and resolve any discontinuities within the analytical wall design lines, click on the "Check Analytical Wall Continuity" button.

Column Design Lines

The column design lines are automatically generated. To view the generated column design lines, switch from the "Analytical Wall Design Lines" spreadsheet to the "Column Design Lines" spreadsheet.

In the "Column Design Lines" spreadsheet, columns that exist along a design line are marked with an "X", while columns that do not exist are left unmarked (Figure 5).

Rename Clockwise

The "Rename Clockwise" button (in Figure 5) allows you to rename column design lines in ascending order, following a clockwise direction.
