1.4 Stories

Please follow below instructions to add Stories to the BDS project.

Table 1: Stories

1

Navigate 'Stories' from tree view. Click the 'Add' button, select '1' floor, and enter '12' feet for the elevation of the floor.

2

Enter Story Height value and Defult Materials Type data.

3

Assign the previously uploaded drawing file to 1st Floor.

Please follow below instructions to modelling the 1st floor.

Table 2: Slab

1

Navigate the 1st floor under 'Stories' from the tree view, click the 'Overlay' button, select the checkbox under the 'Xref drawing' column, click 'OK', and verify the drawing on the CAD side."

2
3

Navigate 'Slabs' under the 1st floor and click the 'Slab Edge' button. Draw the slab edge by following the overlayed drawing on the CAD side.

Enter the thickness and clear cover values."

4

Click the 'Slab Piece' button. Using the overlayed drawing on the CAD side, draw the slab pieces and apply an elevation offset according to the CAD drawing.

5

6

Click the 'Design Strip' button.

Draw the design strip according to the selected direction for analysis.

7

8

Click 'Refresh Parametric Model' button, and verify that a 3D view has been generated.

9

Table 3: Column

1

Navigate 'Column' under the 1st floor from the tree view.

Using the "Rectangular Column" button, draw the columns following the overlayed drawing on the CAD side.

2

3

In the column spreadsheet, set vertical and stirrup rebar for each column.

4

Table 4: Openings

1

Navigate 'Openings' under the 1st floor from the tree view.

Using the 'Rectangular' button, draw the openings by following the overlayed drawing.

2

"If have been noticed any incorrect data in the spreadsheet, you can double-click to correct it."

3

Table 5: Shearwall

1

Navigate 'Shearwall' under the 1st floor from the tree view.

Using the 'Shearwall' button, draw the shearwall by following the overlayed drawing.

2

3

Navigate to the Analytical Definition section for Shearwall in the spreadsheet, then select the "Analytical Wall" button to begin drawing the wall while following the overlayed guide.

After that, adjust the thickness of the analytical wall to match the specified thickness of the shearwall.

4

When two analytical walls intersect, the software will automatically assign a break point at the point of intersection for the analytical wall.

5
6

Table 6: Beam

1

Navigate the Beam section under 1st floor from tree view, then select the "Draw Beam" button to begin drawing the beam while following the overlay drawing on CAD side

2

Enter the depth measurements for each beam and set the beam type as "Lateral”

3
4

Navigate to the Analytical Lines Tab within the Beam section of the spreadsheet, then select the "Draw Analytical Beam" button to begin drawing analytical line on the inside of the beam

5

Enter Width data of each Beam Analytical Line.

6
7

In the 'Beams' spreadsheet, select the button labeled 'Show Tributary' to display the area of each beam's tributary area on CAD side.

8

Table 7: Load

1

Navigate to the "Load" section located under the 1st Floor from the Tree view.

Click on the "Area" button, and use the provided Load Schedule to draw the designated load area."

2
3

"In the spreadsheet, right-click on the "LG 1" line. From the drop-down menu, select "Duplicate".

Assign a name and load case to the new load, ensuring that it covers the same area as "LG 1".

4

Click the "Area" button again to load other areas.

Use the "Duplicate" feature to apply two different load cases to the same area."

5
6

Click “Line” button and draw load area according to Load Schedule.

Draw Line Load around the entire circumference, offsetting the circumference of the slab edge 1 inch inward.

Assign load cases to the drawn “Line Loads”

7
8

"Click the "Check Load Pts" button.

This button will identify any points in the drawing that have been incorrectly intersected or cannot be intersected due to CAD object snap settings."

9

"Click the "Refresh Load Distribution Factors" button. This button displays the percentage of load that each Load is affecting on the columns."

10

%0 → All load affects to Shearwall

%100 → All load affects to this Column

The “Stories” part is completed in this step.

You can proceed to the “Slab Analysis” section.
