Bearing Fixity [EX1-STG]
Please follow the instructions provided below to set boundary conditions for each bearing location (insertion point) that you have defined while creating the bridge layout.
1 | Navigate to Superstructure > Boundary Conditios > Bearing Fixity
|
|
2 | Choose the first cell from the "Insertion Point" column, and then choose the "Pick" button from the window that pops up.
3 | Select the insertion points to define boundary conditions for the superstructure. At each location, enter fixities or stiffness values according to bearing types in Tx, Ty, Tz directions. Pick insertion points for each bearing |
|
4 | Set Tx/Ty/Tz/Rx/Ry/Rz. |
|
5 | Set Transfer Force to Substructure as Yes for interior pier locations.
6 | Set Transfer Force to Substructure as No for start and end support locations.
7 | In this part, dofs are assigned to nodes. The coordinate system of the each insertion point changes along the support line and alignment. According to this new coordinate system, new dofs should be assigned. Tx/Ty/Tz/Rx/Ry/Rz fixities are shown below.
Bearing Rotation parameter rotates the support clockwise in the XY plane.
FE behaviour of Transfer Force to Substructure. |
Navigate to Bearing Fixity under Boundary Conditions on the tree view. |
Copy Articulation from model inputs and paste into OpenBrIM. |
