Internal Cross-frame K Top [EX1-STG]

Please follow the instructions provided below to create Internal K Top cross-frames.

Navigate to Bracing > Internal Cross-frame K Top

Click three-dots icon located on the Girder cell and set G1 to place the cross frame inside.

To define K-Top Cross Frames for the G1 and G2 Tub Girder, enter the Station of each Cross Frame.

Navigate to Sections tab.

Assign a Station value and specify the Top Chord Section and Diagonal Chord Sections for each Internal Cross-frame.

Click on the three-dot icon located on the “Top Chord Section” cell, and then click "Select"

 

 

From the list of Sections imported earlier, choose AISCL6X6X7/8 in the combobox.

 

Apply the same section type for Top Chord Section and Diagonal Chord Sections to all stations, starting with the first station.

Navigate to Chord Geometry tab.

Assign a value of 18 to the "Diagonal Chord Inner Offset from Top Web" column for all cross frames. This input parameter is utilized to incorporate end offsets of members for truss elements in the FEA model.

You have the option to modify the "Gusset Plate" and "Stiffener" tabs if desired. Keep in mind that any changes made here will only affect the 3D visualization of the cross frame and will not impact the FEA model.

Navigate to Internal Cross-frame K Top under Bracing on the tree view.

Copy Location, Sections, Gusset Plate, Chord Geometry, Stiffener from model inputs and paste into OpenBrIM.

The K-Top internal cross-frames that have been created are illustrated below.
