View FEM (Spreadsheet)

To view the generated model's FEM data in a tabular format, you can utilize the 'FEA' tab of the spreadsheet.

Usually, library objects added to the project in OpenBrIM generate the finite element model, relieving users from the need to input node coordinates or define shell elements manually. To view the output of library components, users can utilize the lock icon located below.

Locked FEA Spreadsheet

In the unlocked version of the spreadsheet, only the finite element objects created by the user will be displayed. In most cases, since users are not entering node coordinates, this spreadsheet will remain empty.

Results

When users scroll through the treeview, they will find the 'Results' section at the bottom, where they can access information such as node reactions, node displacements, element forces, element stresses, element end forces, composite forces, composite stresses, frequencies, and more. Clicking on any of these items in the treeview will open a secondary treeview right next to it, displaying all available result cases for user selection. Upon activating a result case, users can view the results in tabular format within the spreadsheet.

Filtering Results in the Spreadsheet

Graphical Filtering: Right-click on the graphics window and create a rectangle to select the nodes/elements you want to view in the spreadsheet. Additionally, you can right-click on individual elements to select and filter the spreadsheet. A left-click on an empty area will refresh the selection.

You can also isolate finite element objects by selecting their parent object, such as the deck, girder as shown in the screenshot below. Once you isolate and create a rectangle to select the nodes/elements to view the results in the spreadsheet.

Spreadsheet Filter: You can utilize the spreadsheet column filters to view the results you are interested in as seen below.

Save & Load Filter Criteria

To save your graphical or spreadsheet filter criteria selection on your computer, use the 'Save Filter Criteria' option from the three-dot menu as shown below. Please note that deleting your browser's cache will also remove these saved criteria.

Result Units

Use the "Units" button to modify the units for deformations, forces, or stress in the graphic view.
