Cable [CSB]
The cables for a cable-stayed bridge can be modeled using this object within the workflow.
The locations of the cables are defined both for the deck and for the pylons.
Position on Pylon
Pylon: This parameter specifies the pylon for which the cable will be generated.
Direction [Up Station Face of Pylon / Down Station Face of Pylon]: This parameter adjusts the direction of the cable in relation to the pylon. The cable's longitudinal direction, based on upstation and downstation, can be specified using this parameter. The cables can be positioned on either the upstation or downstation section of the pylon.
Elevation at Pylon: This parameter specifies the elevation of the cables. The cable's location in the vertical direction will depend on the elevation reference and the value defined here.
Elevation Reference [From Top of the Pylon / From Bottom of the Pylon / Global Elevation]: The elevation reference can be defined as "From Top of the Pylon," "From Bottom of the Pylon," or "Global Elevation."
From Top of the Pylon:
Positive values indicate offsetting the pylon bracing downward.
Negative values indicate offsetting the bracing upward, where zero indicates the top of the pylon. From Bottom of the Pylon:
Positive values indicate offsetting the pylon upward.
Negative values indicate offsetting the bracing downward, where zero places the bracing at the bottom of the pylon.Global Elevation:
Zero indicates the level of PGL (Project Ground Level), where positive values indicate the upward direction and negative values indicate the downward direction.
Longitudinal Offset from Center of Pylon: This parameter offsets the cable from the pylon in the longitudinal direction. Positive values offset the cable in the upstation direction, while negative values offset the cable in the downstation direction.
Transverse Offset from Center of Pylon: This parameter offsets the cable from the pylon in the transverse direction. Positive values offset the cable to the right, while negative values offset the cable to the left -wehn looking upstation along PGL.
Position on Deck
Deck: This parameter specifies the relevant deck object.
Longitudinal Offset from Center of Pylon: This parameter specifies the location of the cable portion on the deck in the longitudinal direction. Positive values offset the cable in the upstation direction, while negative values offset the cable in the downstation direction.
Offset from PGL: This parameter specifies the transverse offset of the cable portion on the deck. A negative value offsets the cable to the left, while a positive value offsets the cable to the right in the upstation direction along the PGL.
Elevation Offset from Deck: This parameter is used to define the vertical position of the cable if it extends beyond the generated concrete deck. Positive values extend the cable below the deck level, while negative values offset the cable vertically upwards, shortening its length.
FEA
Cable Section: This parameter can be used to assign the section to the cable at the specific station. A section can be imported or assigned from the previously defined ones under Properties > Sections.
Mesh Size:The mesh size parameter can be utilized to set the maximum distance for a single finite element line.
