Transverse Stiffener [SIG]

Transverse Stiffener [SIG]

Additional stiffeners, beyond those located at cross-frame positions, can be incorporated using this component. Both the FEM and 3D model can be generated based on the input parameters specified in this section.

General

Girder: Select the girder to specify the location of the Transverse Stiffener.

Station: Station along the PGL.

Skew Angle: A positive skew value rotates the stiffener in a clockwise direction, while a negative skew value rotates it in a counterclockwise direction.

Side of Web[Both/Right/Left]: When looking up station along the PGL, you have the option to position the stiffener on the right, left, or both sides of the web.

Material: Material of the stiffener.Materials can either be imported or assigned from previously defined ones.

Dimensions

These parameters can be defined for the 3D model of the object.

Stiffener Thickness: The thickness of the stiffeners can be specified using this parameter. This parameter will affect the stiffeners' width in the longitudinal direction.

Stiffener Width: The width of each piece can be specified by defining this parameter in the transverse direction.

Distance from Top of Web: For visual representation, refer to the figure below.

Distance from Bottom of Web: For visual representation, refer to the figure below.

3D Detailing

Parameters can be used for further definitions of the 3D model of the object.

Has Inner Edge Top Clip[YES/NO]: This parameter can be used to activate the Inner Edge Top Clip feature.

Top Inner Vertical Clip Height: This parameter allows adjustment of the top inner clip's height.

Top Inner Horizontal Clip Width: This parameter allows adjustment of the top inner clip's width.

Has Inner Edge Bottom Clip[YES/NO]: This parameter can be used to activate the Inner Edge Bottom Clip feature.

Bottom Inner Vertical Clip Height: This parameter allows adjustment of the bottom inner clip's height.

Bottom Inner Horizontal Clip Width: This parameter allows adjustment of the bottom inner clip's width.

Has Outer Edge Top Clip[YES/NO]: This parameter can be used to activate the Outer Edge Top Clip feature.

Top Outer Vertical Clip Height: This parameter allows adjustment of the top outer clip's height.

Top Outer Horizontal Clip Width: This parameter allows adjustment of the top outer clip's width.

Has Outer Edge Bottom Clip[YES/NO]: This parameter can be used to activate the Outer Edge Bottom Clip feature.

Bottom Outer Vertical Clip Height: This parameter allows adjustment of the bottom outer clip's height.

Bottom Outer Horizontal Clip Width: This parameter allows adjustment of the bottom outer clip's width.

FEM

Generate FEM?: The stiffener finite element is a connection element positioned between the top flange and bottom flange nodes.Choose "Yes" if you wish to generate this element. If this parameter is set to "Yes," the stiffness and weight loads of the stiffeners will be applied and considered in the FEA, regardless of the definitions made under the related construction objects under Construction → Superstructure Construction → Girder Erection (Partial) / Girder/Cross-Frame Erection (Complete).
