Properties --> Materials
This section contains material, section, and rebar definitions. Once these properties are imported throughout the modeling, they will automatically appear under the Properties.
This section also serves as the input interface of the properties. Follow the below steps to define the properties that this interface will utilize in the example.
Materials
Follow the below steps to create a material in OpenBrIM | ||

1 | Go to Properties/Materials. |

2 | In 1st row, click-three-dots icon under Name and click Import Material. |
Follow the below steps to add a structural steel material. | ||

1 | From Database drop-down, select Steel Material Database (US) |

2 | Select Category as Structural Steel. | |
3 | Select Asset as A709_50. | |
4 | Click Import. | |
5 | Check the imported material placed in 1st row including the mechanical properties |

Follow the below steps to add a concrete material. | ||

1 | From Database drop-down, select Concrete Material Database (US). |

2 | Select Category as Cube. | |
3 | Select Asset as FcCube_4ksi | |
4 | Click Import. | |
5 | Check the change in Materials data spreadsheet |

6 | Check the Steel column and Concrete column for the material type-specific properties. |

Stress-Strain Model
Follow the below steps to select stress-strain model of your material. | ||

1 | Go to any column of steel/concete material row. |

2 | Click on three-dots icon of any cell of the row. Select Edit MaterialName. Edit for reinforcing steel. | |
3 | Select from Type drop-down as Reinforcing Steel. |

4 | From Stress-Strain Model drop-down, select Bilinear Steel. | |
5 | Click Save. | |
6 | Edit for concrete materials. |

7 | Select from Type drop-down as Concrete. |
|
8 | From Stress-Strain Model drop-down, select Mander Concrete. | |
9 | Click Save. | |

Rebars
Similar to Materials (and Sections in the following part), Rebars come automatically from the database under the Properties tab. This tab enables the user for custom definitions as well.
