Please follow below instructions to add Stories to the BDS project.

Table 1: Stories

Navigate 'Stories' from tree view. Click the 'Add' button, select '1' floor, and enter '12' feet for the elevation of the floor.

Enter Story Height value and Defult Materials Type data.

Assign the previously uploaded drawing file to 1st Floor.


Please follow below instructions to modelling the 1st floor.

Table 2: Slab

Navigate the 1st floor under 'Stories' from the tree view, click the 'Overlay' button, select the checkbox under the 'Xref drawing' column, click 'OK', and verify the drawing on the CAD side."

Navigate 'Slabs' under the 1st floor and click the 'Slab Edge' button. Draw the slab edge by following the overlayed drawing on the CAD side.

Enter the thickness and clear cover values."

Click the 'Slab Piece' button. Using the overlayed drawing on the CAD side, draw the slab pieces and apply an elevation offset according to the CAD drawing.

Click the 'Design Strip' button.

Draw the design strip according to the selected direction for analysis.

Click 'Refresh Parametric Model' button, and verify that a 3D view has been generated.

Table 3: Column

Navigate 'Column' under the 1st floor from the tree view.

Using the "Rectangular Column" button, draw the columns following the overlayed drawing on the CAD side.

In the column spreadsheet, set vertical and stirrup rebar for each column.

Table 4: Openings

Navigate 'Openings' under the 1st floor from the tree view.

Using the 'Rectangular' button, draw the openings by following the overlayed drawing.

"If have been noticed any incorrect data in the spreadsheet, you can double-click to correct it."

Table 5: Shearwall

Navigate 'Shearwall' under the 1st floor from the tree view.

Using the 'Shearwall' button, draw the shearwall by following the overlayed drawing.

Go to Analytical Definition Tab under Shearwall in spreadsheet.

Click “Analytical Wall” button and draw Analytical Wall while following the overlayed drawing.

Adjust the analytical wall thickness value according to the shearwall thickness.

When 2 analytical walls intersect, BDS automatically assigns a break point to the analytical wall on the intersection.

Table 6: Beam

Go to Shearwall under 1st Floor from tree view.

Click the “Draw Beam” button and draw beam while following the overlayed drawing.

Enter Depth data of each beam and set beam type to “Lateral”

Go to Analytical Lines Tab under Beam in spreadsheet.

Click “Draw Analytical Beam” button and draw to inside beam.

Enter Width data of each Beam Analytical Line.

Go to Beams at samet spreadsheet.

Click “Show Tributary” button.

This button shows tributary area of the each Beams.

Table 7: Load

Go to Shearwall under 1st Floor from tree view.

Click “Area” button and draw load area according to Load Schedule.

Right click on LG 1 line at spreadsheet. Click on "Duplicate" in combobox.

Assign a name and load case to new load that cover same area as LG 1.

Click the Area button again to load other areas.

Use "Dublicate" to load 2 different load cases in the same area.

Click “Line” button and draw load area according to Load Schedule.

Draw Line Load around the entire circumference, offsetting the circumference of the slab edge 1 inch inward.

Assign load cases to the drawn Line Loads

Click “Check Load Pts”button.

If some points in the drawing are incorrectly intersected or cannot intersect due to CAD objsnap settings, this button provides these points to intersect.

Click “Refresh Load Distribution Factors” button.

This button shows how much percent load the Loads affect on which column.

%100 → All load affects to this Column

The “Stories” part is completed in this step.
