Floor plan layout and loading plan of 7th floor are shown below. We are going to use following features while modeling on this floor.

→ Slab edge & slab piece

→ Slab opening

→ Copy from & Select Graphically.

→ Arbitrary & rectangular column

→ Show Tributary

→ Shear wall & analytical wall

→ Shear wall opening

→ Beam & analytical beam

→ Area loading

→ Line loading

  • Go to 6th Floor → Overlay

  • Select 6th Floor linked drawing

  • Click Ok

Drawing Slab

Slab egde geometry is the same with 7th floor. You can copy from 7th floor or draw slab edge manually.

  • Draw slab edge using slab edge command.

Or

  • Copy the same slab edge and slab pieces from the floors above.

  • Go to 6th Floor → Click Copy From

  • Select slabs and select 7th floor

  • Click Select Graphically

  • Select the slab edge and slab pieces

  • Press Enter

You can copy multiple (such as openings) objects at the same time.

  • Draw the remaining slab pieces with slab piece button.

Drawing Opening

  • Draw openings as explained before or you can copy openings which are the same from roof.

Drawing Columns

Since 6th and 5th floors are similar, floor plan is typical for these stories. Thus there is no need to overlay one lower floor plan to see the columns below.

Also columns of 7th floor are continue in 6th floor. You can copy columns (and shear walls) from 7th floor.

  • Go to 6th floor → Copy From

  • Select columns (and shear walls)

  • Select 7th Floor

  • Click Copy All

Or you can draw columns manually.

  • Draw rectangular columns by using rectangular column command that explained before.

  • Draw arbitrary and rotated rectangular columns by using arbitrary column command that explained before.

Drawing Shear Walls

You can copy the shear walls from 7th floor if you did not copy with the columns or you can draw shear walls manually.

Shear wall belows are shown in 6th floor drawing so there is no need to overlay 5th floor.

  • Draw shear walls and linked analytical walls

or

  • Copy the same ones from above floors

As explained before.

Do not forget to draw shear wall opening which has the same dimensions with 7th floor.

Drawing Beams

You can copy the same beams from 7th floors or you can draw the beams manually.

  • Click Draw Beam and draw the beam between vertical support faces.

Or

  • Copy the beams from 7th floor as explained before.

If you draw beam manually, do not forget to draw analytical beams.

When you copy beams, analytical beams are also copied.

Modelling of 6th floor is completed. Updated 3D view is shown below.
