This part is to inform about the general purposes of section definitions.


Please follow the instructions provided below to set section definitions to be used in this bridge example.

Step 1: Adding Sections to the Project

Navigate to Properties > Sections

To import a section, click on the three-dot icon located on the first cell of the Name and select "Import Section".

Select OpenBrIM Bridge Objects > Precast U Girder Sections > WS DOT > U78G5

Assign Material as: Fc_6ksi

Select OpenBrIM Bridge Objects > Precast U Girder Sections > WS DOT > U54G5

Assign Material as: Fc_6ksi

Select OpenBrIM Bridge Objects > Basic Sections > Basic Shapes > Circle

Enter Width & Depth as 42 in import section editor.

Then Click Import

Assign Material as Fc_5ksi

(If the material Fc_5ksi is already assigned by default, there is no need to assign it again)

Rename this section as EBSec

Repeat the same steps from 4 to 7 for the other basic section.

Enter Witdh and Depth

  • Width: 36

  • Depth: 36

Rename this section as PCSec

Assign Material as Fc_5ksi

Repeat the same steps from 4 to 7 for the other basic section.

  • Radius: 18

Rename this section as ColSec

Assign Material as Fc_6ksi

Repeat the same steps from 4 to 7 for the other basic section.

Enter Witdh and Depth

  • Width: 12

  • Depth: 12

Rename this section as PileSec

Assign Material as Fc_4ksi

Create a new section by defining its name as RigidSection

Copy and paste the data below.

Step 2: Adding Rebars and Strands to the Section

This step involves providing details of the rebars in the section.

Please follow the instructions provided below to set rebar detailing for U78G5

From any cell of the U78G5 row, click on three-dots icon to open Section Editor panel.

Click + icon at the left top side of the screen.

And Select Rebar

Enter:

  • Profile: ASTMA615No11

  • Material: A615_60

  • Reference Edge: Bottom

  • Dist. … Outer Surface of Rebar: 2

  • Outer Rebar Spacing: 5

  • Inner Rebar Spacing: 5

  • # of Rebars (per Row): 10

  • # of Rows: 1

Click Add.

From any cell of the U54G5 row, click on three-dots icon to open Section Editor panel.

Click + icon at the left top side of the screen.

And Select Rebar

Enter:

  • Profile: ASTMA615No11

  • Material: A615_60

  • Reference Edge: Bottom

  • Dist. … Outer Surface of Rebar: 2

  • Outer Rebar Spacing: 5

  • Inner Rebar Spacing: 5

  • # of Rebars (per Row): 10

  • # of Rows: 1

Click Add.
