Pick 2 Girders that the cross frame will be placed between.

2

Enter the Station of the cross frame.

3

Go to Sections tab.

4

Import AISCL8X8X3/4 and assign it to Top & Bottom & Diagonal Chord Sections.

5

Go to Gusset Plate tab, select top, bottom and center gusset plate and edit the gusset plate offset values for top, bottom and diagonal plates.

6

Go to Stiffener tab.

7

Edit the vertical stiffener thickness as 1 and vertical stiffener width as 7 in.

8
 Quick Tip

Do not forget to assign the related material for each case.

9

Go to Geometry tab.

10

Edit the offset values for top chord, diagonals, and bottom chord.

11
 Quick Tip

Skew Angle parameter rotates the the unskewed line which is perpendicular the PGL.

 Quick Tip

Follow the next steps to use parameters at the FEA Section, and understand the parametric relationship.

Go to Parameters tab at the FEA section.

Enter Parameter Name and set Parameter Value.

Go back to Cross-frame X tab.

For the first row set Station parameter as ‘=Spacing*1’.

For the second row set Station parameter as ‘=Spacing*2’.

Select both of them.

Drag down to automatically increase the multiplier of the spacing.

Station parameter of the cross frames are now function of Spacing parameter.

Follow the below steps to copy and paste all inputs from our data set.

1

Go to Cross-frame K Top under Cross Frames on the tree view.

2

Copy Location, Sections, Gusset Plate, Stiffener, Geometry from model inputs and paste into OpenBrIM.

Completed cross frames is illustrated below.

Quick Tip: Copy inputs to OpenBrIM

Copy the desired data with the automatic copy button in the upper left corner.

Click on the first cell in and use the Ctrl+V shortcut to paste.

If icon won’t appear, collapse page tree menu by clicking on arrow or using shortcut “[”.

While pasting large data, it would be handy to turn of Auto-refresh .
