Follow the next steps to add Stories to the BDS project.
Table 1: Stories
1 | Go to Stories from tree view. Click Add button and adding “1” floors. Enter 12 feet at the elevation of floor. | |
2 | Enter Story Height value and Defult Materials Type data. | |
3 | Set the previously uploaded drawing file to 1st Floor. |
Follow the steps below to modelling the 1st floor.
Table 2: 1st Floor Slab
1 | Go to 1st Floor below Stories from tree view. Click Overlay button and select checkbox below Xref drawing column. Then click OK. Check the drawing coming to the CAD side. | |

3 | Go to Slabs under 1st Floor and click “Slab Edge” button. Draw the Slab Edge by following the overlayed drawing on the CAD side. In addition, thickness and clear cover values need to be entered. | |
4 | Click “Slab Piece” button. Draw the Slab Pieces by following the overlayed drawing on the CAD side. An elevation offset is given to the Slab piece according to Cad drawing. | |

6 | Click “Design Strip” button. Draw the Design Strip according to the direction you selection for Analysis. | |
7 | Click Refresh Parametric Model button. Then check that 3D view has been created. | |

Table 3: 1st Floor Column
1 | Go to Column under 1st Floor from tree view Draw following overlayed drawing on the CAD side using “Rectangular Column” button. | |

3 | Should set Vertical Rebar and Stirrup Rebar for each column in the column spreadsheet. | |

Table 4: Openings
1 | Go to Openings under 1st floor from tree view. Click the “Rectangular” button and draw opening while following the overlayed drawing. | |
2 | If you find that a data has been entered incorrectly in the Spreadsheet, you can double-click to enter the desired data. | |

Table 5: Shearwall
1 | Go to Shearwall under 1st Floor from tree view. Click the “Shearwall” button and draw Shearwall while following the overlayed drawing. | |

3 | Go to Analytical Definition Tab under Shearwall in spreadsheet. Click “Analytical Wall” button and draw Analytical Wall while following the overlayed drawing. Adjust the analytical wall thickness value according to the shearwall thickness. | |
4 | When 2 analytical walls intersect, BDS automatically assigns a break point to the analytical wall on the intersection. | |
