Assign a Stress-Strain model to A165_60 by clicking the three-dots and selecting Edit

Each material type comes with a default curve, which you can view from this menu. If you need to customize it, you can introduce a new library component. To assign a different curve, simply select it from the selection box. These curves will be used to compute the section capacity based on the strain compatibility method.

To view a sample of these default curves, follow these steps:

Click on the three dots in the first cell of "A615_60" and select Edit
Click on "Stress/Strain Model" from combobox and modify the parameter.

As you change the "Stress/Strain Model" parameter, it will be noticed that the "Stress/Strain Curve" also changes accordingly.

Define a custom Concrete material manually as Fc_3_1/2ksi_NoStiffness.

The purpose of defining such a material is to calculate certain bridge components without considering weight.

introduce components without their stiffness. In this example, we will assign this material to a barrier and eliminate its stiffness during construction.

Copy and paste the data below for the Fc_3_2ksi_NoStiffness.

Code Block
languagexml
Fc_3_2ksi_NoStiffness	0.0004	0.0000	0.0002	149.9904	6.0000	concrete	Mander Concrete

Define To introduce a new material manually as RigidMaterial, add a new row and specify RigidMaterial as its name.

As a general practice, make sure to set the unit weight of rigid materials to “0”.

Copy and paste the data below for the RigidMaterial.

Code Block
languagexml
RigidMat	4307.0000	0.2000	1794.5830	0.0000	6.5000	steel	Bilinear Steel
Tip

Completed material definitions are illustrated below.
