Foundation Wall

  • Go to Foundation → Foundation Walls in tree view item

  • Click Foundation Wall button

  • Enter the story number of foundation wall as 1

Story plan will be overlayed. If you need, you can exit the command and go to relevant floor and overlay a reference drawing which includes the foundation wall drawing. Repeat above instructions and start drawing.

  • Draw the foundation wall analytical line along the center line

  • Select material from spreadsheet

  • Enter thickness

  • Click Foundation Wall button again

  • Enter the story number of foundation wall as 1

  • draw the second foundation wall as illustrated above

If its necesaary create break points or enter elevation offset and refline offset from spreadsheet.

Mat Foundation

Shallow mat foundation is defined from this section.

  • Click draw Mat Edge button to draw mat edge

  • Draw the mat edge

The relation between mat edge and mat piece is the same as the relation between slab edge and slab piece. You can divide mat edge into areas to define different properties.

  • Click Mat Piece button

  • Draw the mat piece area

  • Enter the thinkness of mat edge and mat pieces

  • Select material

  • Enter soil capacity and subgrade modulus

  • Enter clear cover top&bottom

Pile Foundation

You can define deep foundations in two ways. AEC | BOLT Building Design Suite allows user to draw custom pile caps under columns or shear walls. Or you can import Pile Cap Templates from AEC|BOLT BIM Cloud and edit parameters then set template to columns or shear walls.

Custom Pile Caps

  • Go to Pile Caps → Custom

  • Click Pile Cap Edge

  • Draw the pile cap under the shear wall and column as shown below

  • Enter the pile capacity parameters

  • Select the concrete&rebar material

  • Enter cap depth and pile diameter

  • Enter K values

  • Enter Pile embedment to cap

  • Click Show button to go to pile spreadsheet

  • Click Pile to add piles

  • Click to point where pile to be centered

You can edit the pile parameters from spreadsheet as shown below.

  • Click Back To Pile Cap to go back to custom spreadsheet.

  • Go to Pile Caps spreadsheet

The custom pile cap you draw is automatically assigned to shear wall and column as shown above.

  • Enter pile embedment to soil in the spreadsheet.

  • Enter elevation offset (if necessary)

Pile Cap Template

  • Go to Pile Caps → Templates spreadsheet

  • Click Import Pile Caps

  • Select Pile foundation templates

  • Click import

You can see detailed information about selected pile foundation template in the right side of pop up window as shown below.

  • Select concrete&rebar material for the imported pile foundations

  • Click template in the spreadsheet to see the plan view of pile foundation

  • Go to Pile Caps spreadsheet

  • Click Assign Pile Cap Template

  • Select columns or shear walls to assign pile foundation template

You can select multiple columns at the same time.

  • Select the template for each column from spreadsheet as shown below

You may be warned about inaccurate column dimension if selected pile foundation template is not suitable for column.

Footings

AEC | BOLT Building Design Suite enables user to define custom footing and also user can import footing templates from AEC| BOLT BIM Cloud.

Templates

  • Go to Pile Caps → Footings → Templates

  • Click Import Footing

  • Select footings → click import

You can see detailed information about footing templated in the right side of pop up window as shown above.

  • Select the concrete material of footing

  • Go to Pile Caps → Footings

  • Click Add Footing

  • Select columns

You can select multiple columns at the same time.

  • Select the footing templates for each column

Custom Footing

  • Go to Footings → Custom

  • Click Add

  • Select the concrete material of the custom footing

  • Enter width&length&depth

  • Enter soil capacity and soil subgrade modulus

  • Enter rebar count and select rebar number in two directions

  • Go to Footings spreadsheet

  • Click Add

  • Select column

You can select multiple columns at the same time.

  • Set custom footing to column from spreadsheet.
