Steel I Girder - Additional Bearing Construction and Deconstruction [QG-18]
Follow the steps below for the construct and deconstruct of temporary bearings.
Throughout this article, additional bearings will be constructed and deconstructed on the steel I girder model shown below. Additional supports will be added at the 25th and 75th feet of the 100-foot-long girder. The construction will be carried out in three stages.
| 1 | Create Addtional Support Lines | |
| 2 | Create additional insertion points on additional support lines. These insertion points can be created on existing support lines with a longitudinal offset. However, creating a new support line is a better option. | |
| 3 | Include the insertion points in the girder layout. This is required to align the elevation of the insertion points with the bottom of the girder. | |
| 4 | Define bearing fixity for the relevant insertion points | |
| 5 | Construct the bearings stage by stage under 'Bearing Construction'. | |
| 6 | Select the additional bearings to be deconstructed under 'Bearing Deconstruction' | |
