Steel I Girder - Additional Bearing Construction and Deconstruction [QG-18]

Follow the steps below for the construct and deconstruct of temporary bearings.

Throughout this article, additional bearings will be constructed and deconstructed on the steel I girder model shown below. Additional supports will be added at the 25th and 75th feet of the 100-foot-long girder. The construction will be carried out in three stages.

Create Addtional Support Lines

Create additional insertion points on additional support lines.

These insertion points can be created on existing support lines with a longitudinal offset. However, creating a new support line is a better option.

Include the insertion points in the girder layout.

This is required to align the elevation of the insertion points with the bottom of the girder.

Define bearing fixity for the relevant insertion points

Construct the bearings stage by stage under 'Bearing Construction'.
