Materials

Material object holds material property information for the structure.

User can import required materials from OpenBrIM database or define a new one if needed.

Defining Custom Materials

There are multiple ways of defining custom material:

  1. From Data/FEA/Properties/Materials tab create new material, then from options menu () click edit

  2. Click icon on top left corner then go into “Assets” menu. Under the Materials tab click + icon.

After a new material is defined, user can enter desired values for :

  • Mod. of Elasticity

  • Mod. of Elasticity

  • Shear Modulus

  • Poisson Ratio

  • Density

  • Thermal Exp.

  • Type [Concrete Structural Steel, Prestressing Steel, Reinforcing Steel]

  • Stress/Strain Model [Default, Bilinear Steel, Prestressing Steel, Menegotto Pinto Steel, Mander Concrete]

  • Yield Stress(Steel)

  • Ultimate Stress(Steel)

  • 28-Day Strength(Concrete)

  • Ultimate Tensile Strain(Concrete)

Importing Materials From Database

  • To import a material, user must navigate to Data/FEA/Properties/Materials tab and click on “⋮” icon and select “Import Material” option.

  • Navigate through “Import Material” page and import desired material from OpenBrIM database.

  • Same exact process with user defined can be followed to edit predefined materials.
