2.1 Slab Analysis

2.1 Slab Analysis

Please follow below instruction to Run Tributary Analysis

Table 1: Tributary Analysis

1

Navigate to the "Tributary" section under "AEC|BOLT" in the tree view.

I would like to change the tributary Area Factors for columns C21 and C25 to 1.1 instead of their current value of "1".

By increasing the correction factor for the tributary calculations, the results will be more conservative. If you want to take a more cautious approach, you can increase the correction factor further.

In order to complete this task, I will need the "Live Load Reduction" code. If it is not already imported, please add it from the "Design Criteria" section.

2

Navigate to the "Tributary Correction Factors" tab on the same spreadsheet.

On this tab, please change the "Tributary Area Factors" for columns C21 and C25 to 1.1.

Additionally, you will find the "Reducible Area" on this spreadsheet.

3

Please return to the "Tributary Analysis Settings" section.

Once you are there, please run the Tributary Analysis.

Please follow below instruction to Run AECBolt Slab Analysis.

Table 2: Slab Analysis

1

Navigate 1st floor under Slab Analysis from tree view.

Fill in the blanks in the spreadsheet with the correct information as per the project's specifications.

After that please click on "Run Mesh" button to check the quality of the mesh.

2

3

After filling in the blanks and checking the mesh quality, please click the "Run Slab Analysis" button to perform the analysis.

Once the analysis is completed, the "Slab Analysis Results" will be displayed. Here, you will be able to view the results for each load case.

  • “Model”

  • “Loading”

  • “Deformed”

  • “Line Forces”,

  • “Surface Forces”

  • “Composite Forces” for each

The results of the analysis can also be viewed in a browser. To do this, please navigate to the AEC|BOLT BIM Cloud page and press "Open". The most recent analysis performed in BDS will be displayed in the browser.

On the AEC|BOLT BIM Cloud page, please click on "Analysis:: Slab Reinforcement Training Example" and open the “AEC_SlabAnalysisTemplate2”.

Once the browser page is open, please click the "FEA" button and run the Analysis.

6
7

After the analysis is complete, please open the "DATA" spreadsheet. Once the spreadsheet is open, please follow these steps in order:

Select the "FEM" tab
Select "Node Reaction (Global)"
Select "Self Weight"
Then, hover over the "Force Z" column. You will see 3 dots appear, please click on them and select "Quick Stats" from the dropdown menu.

The sum value displayed will give the total self-weight analysis result for this slab

The “Slab Analysis” part is completed in this step.

You can proceed to the “CSI Safe Export & Import” section.
