Floor plan layout and loading plan of 2nd floor are shown below. We are going to use following features while modeling on this floor.
→ Slab edge & slab piece
→ Slab opening
→ Copy from
→ Circular & arbitrary & rectangular column
→ Column tranfser by beam
→ Column transfer by slab
→ Shear wall & analytical wall
→ Shear wall opening
→ Beam & analytical beam
→ Area loading
→ Line loading
If the reference drawing of 2nd floor is not overlayed;
Go to 2nd Floor → Overlay
Select 2nd Floor linked drawing
Unselect ( if selected) other linked drawings
Click OK
Drawing Slab
Draw slab edge using slab edge command as explained before.
Draw slab pieces shown in reference drawings as expained before.
Or
Copy the same slab pieces from the floors above.
You can copy slab pieces and slab openings at the same time.
There is a transfer slab in 2nd floor. Draw it as slab piece and edit its thickness as 13”.
Edit the thickness, offset, clear cover properties of slab objects in spreadsheet
Drawing Opening
Draw the openings using commands shown on the right.
Or
Copy openings which are the same with floors above if you did not copy at the same time with slab pieces.
Drawing Columns
Go to 2nd Floor → Overlay
Select 1st floor linked drawing
Unselect 2nd floor linked drawing
Now you see the columns below for 2nd floor.
Copy the columns and shear walls which are the same as floors above
Be aware that some columns do not continue at 2nd floor. The loads carried by discontinuous columns are transferred to other columns by transfer beams.
Draw the columns that are not exists in floors above using commands below
Drawing Shear Walls
Shear walls which are the same with floors above can be copied at thw same time with columns.
Draw the door opening in the shear wall that is explained before.
Be aware that there is a shear wall below for 2nd floor that does not continue at floors above.
Draw that shear wall as explained before.
Go to 2nd Floor → Shear Walls
Click Shear Wall
Draw the shear wall which does not exist in floors above
Click Spreadsheet Data → Analytical Walls
Click Analytical Wall
Draw analytical wall linked to the shear wall
Click No Break Pts button of the analytical wall
Draw break points
Edit the thicknesses and offsets of analytical wall parts
Drawing Beams
There are tranfer beams in the 2nd floor .
Click Draw Beam and draw the beams
Enter material propery and depth
Go to Analytical Beams
Click Draw Analytical Beam and draw the analytical lines of the beams
Copy the link beams between shear walls from the floors above using Copy From button.
Modelling of 2nd floor is completed. Updated 3D view is shown below.
