Floor plan layout and loading plan of 2nd floor are shown below. We are going to use following features while modeling on this floor.

→ Slab edge & slab piece

→ Slab opening

→ Copy from

→ Circular & arbitrary & rectangular column

→ Column tranfser by beam

→ Column transfer by slab

→ Shear wall & analytical wall

→ Shear wall opening

→ Beam & analytical beam

→ Area loading

→ Line loading

If the reference drawing of 2nd floor is not overlayed;

  • Go to 2nd Floor → Overlay

  • Select 2nd Floor linked drawing

  • Unselect ( if selected) other linked drawings

  • Click OK

Drawing Slab

  • Draw slab edge using slab edge command as explained before.

  • Draw slab pieces shown in reference drawings as expained before.

Or

  • Copy the same slab pieces from the floors above.

You can copy slab pieces and slab openings at the same time.

There is a transfer slab in 2nd floor. Draw it as slab piece and edit its thickness as 13”.

  • Edit the thickness, offset, clear cover properties of slab objects in spreadsheet

Drawing Opening

  • Draw the openings using commands shown on the right.

Or

  • Copy openings which are the same with floors above if you did not copy at the same time with slab pieces.

Drawing Columns

  • Go to 2nd Floor → Overlay

  • Select 1st floor linked drawing

  • Unselect 2nd floor linked drawing

Now you see the columns below for 2nd floor.

  • Copy the columns and shear walls which are the same as floors above

Be aware that some columns do not continue at 2nd floor. The loads carried by discontinuous columns are transferred to other columns by transfer beams.

  • Draw the columns that are not exists in floors above using commands below

Drawing Shear Walls

Shear walls which are the same with floors above can be copied at thw same time with columns.

  • Draw the door opening in the shear wall that is explained before.

Be aware that there is a shear wall below for 2nd floor that does not continue at floors above.

  • Draw that shear wall as explained before.

  • Go to 2nd Floor → Shear Walls

  • Click Shear Wall

  • Draw the shear wall which does not exist in floors above

  • Click Spreadsheet Data → Analytical Walls

  • Click Analytical Wall

  • Draw analytical wall linked to the shear wall

  • Click No Break Pts button of the analytical wall

  • Draw break points

  • Edit the thicknesses and offsets of analytical wall parts

Drawing Beams

There are tranfer beams in the 2nd floor .

  • Click Draw Beam and draw the beams

  • Enter material propery and depth

  • Go to Analytical Beams

  • Click Draw Analytical Beam and draw the analytical lines of the beams

  • Copy the link beams between shear walls from the floors above using Copy From button.

Modelling of 2nd floor is completed. Updated 3D view is shown below.
