Springs


  • Springs represents two two-noded members with stiffness parameter, usually used while modeling bearings in bridges.

  • Difference between Line and Spring objects is that, Line objects gather their stiffness values from their section parameters while springs' stiffness parameter can be modified by user.

  • From model below we can see the behavior difference between same structure modeled with lines and springs.


Stiffness Parameter

  • Click icon next to the desired stiffness parameter input cell.

  • User can either choose between Free - Fixed options or select Edit Stiffness option.

  • In Edit Link Stiffness tab user can manipulate stiffness value to match desired behavior.
