After clicking on ‘Loading> Loads> Wind Load> Wind Load on Structure> WS AASHTO' in the navigation treeview, follow the steps to define the Wind Load on Structure. You can use the collapsed documentation page below for more information on the explanations of each parameter.

 Wind Load on Structure

🖱️ Click three-dots icon on Stage cell and select a Construction Stage as WSStage.

🖱️ Keep the Gust Effect Factor parameters as default.

The gust effect factor value is specified in AASHTO Table 3.8.1.2.1-1. To determine these values, you can refer to the quick tip below.

5th row - Applied Elements: PierCap1 Wind Direction: Both Direction Structural Height from Line: 41 Gust Effect Factors: 1 Drag Coefficient: 1.6

When the steps are completed, the shared screenshot displayed in the adjacent cell should be visible in the FEA view of OpenBrIM.

You can refer to the Quick Tip below to learn how the loading displayed in the screenshot is viewed.

 Quick Tip: Learn how to show Wind Load

Click on the arrow button above the Analysis button located in the upper-left corner of the OpenBrIM screen.

Click on the FEA button on the screen that opens up.

Click on the first button on the screen that opens up and Click on the Loading button.

Click on the third button and in the opened window, select the degree for wind load for which you want to see the loading.

Proceed to the next step to verify the model.

The completed wind load on structure is illustrated below. Please verify that you have the same model on your end by examining each view provided here. For more information on how to perform visual checks, refer to the quick tips.
