After clicking on 'Superstructure> Cross Frames> Cross-frame X' in the navigation treeview, follow the steps to define the Cross Frame. You can use the collapsed documentation page below for more information on the explanations of each parameter.

🖱️ Click three-dots on the first cell of the Girders and pick the girders G4,G3

Skew Angle parameter rotates the the unskewed line which is perpendicular the PGL.

🖱️ Enter the Station as 20.

🖱️ Keep the Has middle gusset plate? as default.

You can edit the Section of cross frame from Sections tab.

🖱️ Click three-dots icon on Top Chord Section, Bottom Chord Section and Diagonal Chord Section cells and select a Section as AISCL8X8X3_4.

If you have reached this stage and you don't have a section to select, and if you want to use the Import Button, you can refer to the Quick Tip.

If there is no section to be set, follow the steps below:

- Click the three dots on the cell and select Import Section.

- In the opened window, choose the section.
- Click the Import button.

You can edit the gusset plate of cross frame from Gusset Plate tab.

🖱️ Click three-dots icon on Top Gusset Plate cell and select a Gusset Plate as GSX_TOP.

🖱️ Click three-dots icon on Bottom Gusset Plate cell and select a Gusset Plate as GSX_BOTTOM.

🖱️ Click three-dots icon on Center Gusset Plate cell and select a Gusset Plate as GSX_CENTER.

🖱️ Enter the Offset from Top of Web as 6.

🖱️ Enter the Offset from Bot. of Web as 5.

🖱️ Enter the Horizontal Dist. btw Web Centerline and Plate Edge as 1.

You can edit the stiffener of cross frame from Stiffener tab.

🖱️ Keep the vertical stiffener thickness as default.

🖱️ Enter the vertical stiffener width as 7.

🖱️ Click the three-dots icon on the Material cell, and then select A709_50.

 

If you have reached this stage and you don't have a material to select, and if you want to use the Import Button, you can refer to the Quick Tip.

If there is no material to be set, follow the steps below:

- Click the three dots on the cell and select Import Material.

- In the opened window, choose the material.
- Click the Import button.

🖱️ Keep the Geometry parameters as default.

When the steps are completed, the shared screenshot displayed in the adjacent cell should be visible in the 3D view of OpenBrIM.

To model all the cross frame, copy the data below and paste the parameters into the first cell in OpenBrIM spreadsheet. Refer to the quick tip for an easy guide on how to perform the copy operation. After completing the copy, proceed to the next step to verify the model.

Copy the desired data with the automatic copy button in the upper left corner.

Click on the first cell in and use the Ctrl+V shortcut to paste.

If icon won’t appear, collapse page tree menu by clicking on arrow or using shortcut “[”.

While pasting large data, it would be handy to turn of Auto-refresh .

Click on the arrow button above the Analysis button located in the upper-left corner of the OpenBrIM screen.
