You can define the bridge layout without modeling the actual 3D of the project through the Bridge Geometry tab on the workflow.

Roadway Alignment

titleRoadway Alignment
Info

Follow the below steps to create the alignment where the bridge will be located.

...

Go to Roadway Alignment

...

Enter Start Station as 0

...

Click the three-dots icon on the cell and Click Editor to define alignment properties

...

...

Click icon next to the Horizontal and add a circular segment

...

...

Enter Length as 530 ft, Radius as 700 ft, and Direction as Towards Right

...

...

You can edit the Vertical data such as grades and elevations of alignment in the Vertical tab. In this example, vertical data of alignment is set to 0

...

...

Click icon next to the Transverse to define the alignment cross-section at a specific station

...

...

Enter the cross-section Station as 0 ft

...

Enter the Left Edge to PGL distance as 20 ft. This distance is the length from the left edge to the centerline of the alignment.

...

...

Click icon next to the At Sta+0 and add a section component

...

Enter the Width as 40 ft and Slope as %-5

In this section, the definitions related to Bridge Geometry will be made. The way to make definitions for this part includes making the definitions for Roadway Alignment, Bridge Alignment, Support Lines, Insertion Points, and Girder Layouts respectively. To understand the parameters related to this stage, it is vital for the user to replicate what is shown and done.

Roadway Alignment: In the example, the alignment is defined manually (not defined by an imported LandXML file).

Bridge Alignment: This is set to the previously defined Roadway Alignment.

Support Lines: Four support lines (at different stations) are used in this example.

Insertion Points: Four insertion points on four different support lines, each with different transverse offsets, are defined.

Girder Layout: Four girder layouts, defined with four insertion points, are specified.

To see the details of the defined parameters for each stage, follow the [EX1-SIG] documentation
