Please follow the instructions provided below to create External Diapgrahm. |
1 | Navigate to Bracing > External Diaphragm Several structural elements are used to ensure that the two Tub Girders work together structurally, and one of these elements is the "External Diaphragm”. | |
2 | Click three-dots icon on Girders cell and pick the two Tub Girders (G1 & G2) between which the External Diaphragm will be placed. | |
3 | Define 5 External Diaphragms with the following inputs. | |
4 | Also Skew Angle value is 0. | |
5 | Since our project has 4 pier-end points, assign the "Pier-End" type to the External Diaphragm for the first 4 rows. Assign the "Intermediate" type to the External Diaphragm for the last row. | |
6 | Click three-dots icon on Select Pier/End cell and pick location as in the figure.

7 | Enter the following data for Offset from Pier/End [ft] as in the figure | |
8 | Click three-dots icon on Material cell and assign the material type of all external diaphragms to A709_50W. | |
9 | You can make adjustments to the "Section Details" and "Stiffener" tabs if you wish. |
