  • Formatting was changed.
  • Go to 7th Floor → Overlay

  • Select 7th Floor linked drawing

  • Click Ok

Drawing Slab

  • Draw slab edge using slab edge command as explained before.

  • Draw slab pieces shown on reference drawings using slab piece command as expained before.

  • Enter the thicknesses of slab edge and slab pieces.

  • Enter clear covers of each slab object.

  • Enter elevation offset to slab pieces to adjust global elevations.

  • Update the project.

Drawing Opening

  • Draw openings as explained before or you can copy openings which are the same from roof.

Copy From” process is the same with copying columns or shear walls.

You can see openings by rotating 3D view after you update the project.

Drawing Columns

  • Go to 7th Floor → Overlay

  • Select 6th floor drawing → click OK

Now you see column belows of 7th floor.

  • Draw columns using commands appropriate to the column shape.

You can edit the width and depth or diameter of the columns from spreadsheet. The hold point remain fixed, and other points of the column will be repositioned according to depth and width. You can change the location of hold point from spreadsheet by changing Hold Point number.

If there is a walking column in the floor plan, just draw the column section which carries the slab at each floor.

You can see tributary areas calculated by AEC | BOLT Building Design Suite as shown below.

  • Click Show Tributary

Drawing Shear Walls

  • Draw shear walls and linked analytical walls

or

  • Copy the same ones from above floors

As explained before.

We will create an opening on shear wall for a door as shown below.

  • Go to analytical wall which the opening will be drawn

  • Click elevation view

  • Click Wall Opening → select rectangle shape

  • Draw a rectangular opening with dimensions above.

  • Click Show Story to go back to plan view.

Drawing Beams

  • Click Draw Beam and draw the beam between vertical support faces.

  • Enter the depth of the beam to spreadsheet

  • Edit the material property of the beam

  • Select the beam type

You must draw analytical beams for finite element model.

  • Go to Analytical Lines spreadsheet

  • Click Draw Analytical Beam

  • Draw the analytical beam line

  • Enter the width and depth of the analytical beam

While analytical beam line command is active, joint points shear walls are become visible. Drawing analytical beam lines using these joint will be more accurate for the generation of FE model.

If the line of analytical beam does not pass through the geometric center of the column, a secondary analytical line should be drawn between the column and analytical beam line.

Modelling of 7th floor is completed. Updated 3D view is shown below.
