1 | Click three-dots icon on Girder Layout cell and set a layout.
| |
2 | Edit the plate girder dimensions. To enter a station-dependent dimension; |
3 | Click three-dots icon on Top Flange Width cell and Edit (spreadsheet).
| |
4 | Enter the Start Station as 0.
| |
5 | If the user enters the length along the girder, the end station and Station Difference will be calculated automatically. Conversely, if the user enters the end station, the length and Station Difference data will be calculated automatically.
|
6 | Set the Length parameter to 100. After this operation, the End Station and Station Difference parameters will be automatically calculated.
| |
7 | Set the Station Difference parameter to 120. After this operation, the End Station and Length parameters will be automatically calculated.
| |
8 | Set the Start Station parameter to 36. After this operation, the End Station, Station Difference and Length parameters will be automatically calculated.
| |
9 | Please enter the following values sequentially: 1st row - Start Station: 0, End Station: 113.30, Top Flange Width: 16 2nd row - Start Station: 113.30, End Station: 136.20, Top Flange Width: 21 3rd row - Start Station: 136.20, End Station: 156.20, Top Flange Width: 21 4th row - Start Station: 156.20, End Station: 176.20, Top Flange Width: 21 5th row - Start Station: 176.20, End Station: 197.30, Top Flange Width: 21 6th row - Start Station: 197.30, End Station: 361.30, Top Flange Width: 18

10 | Top Flange Thickness, Web Depth and Thickness, Bottom Flange Width and Thickness, Haunch Thickness, and Additional Haunch Width parameters can be defined similarly to Top Flange Width. |
11 | As a result of these operations, an issue will appear on the OpenBrIM screen. This does not necessarily mean that any operation was done incorrectly. The issue will be resolved when the material is set in the next step. |

When encountering the warning as seen in OpenBrIM app, there is a "issue" , it is advised to review the parameters you have provided. This warning suggests that there might be a missing or incorrect parameter in your input. Check inputs to ensure they are accurate and complete.
Image RemovedWhen a warning is clicked, the reason can be displayed. The warning is expressed in the format of Component Group Name (can be viewed in the treeview) > User Defined Component Name (can be viewed in the spreadsheet name column) > Parameter Name (can be viewed in the spreadsheet column header).
After clicking on 'Superstructure > Connections > Bolted Field Splice' in the tree view, navigate to the Bolt category. Set the Bolt Property input. The issue will be resolved after these steps.
The screenshot demonstrates one example of two Bolted Field Splice components named BFS1 and BFS2 by the user, with parameter names 'flange bolt property' and 'web bolt property

Click three-dots icon on Top Flange Material cells and select a Material as A709 50.
The reason for selecting the material parameter instead of importing its value is that the material objects have already been imported previously. If you have reached this stage and you don't have a material to select, and if you want to use the Import Button, you can refer to the Quick Tip.

16 | You can edit the FE mesh settings of girders from FEA Settings tab.
Keep the mesh size and number of result extraction as default.
17 | When the steps are completed, the shared screenshot displayed in the adjacent cell should be visible in the 3D view of OpenBrIM.
18 | To model all the girders, copy the data below and paste the parameters into the first cell in OpenBrIM spreadsheet. Refer to the quick tip for an easy guide on how to perform the copy operation. After completing the copy, proceed to the next step to verify the model. |
