Follow the next steps to set material definitions to be used in this bridge example.

Go to Properties > Materials

Click the three-dots on the first cell of the Name and click Import Material

Import following materials from OpenBrIM Library

  • OpenBrIM Bridge Objects > Steel Material DB (US) > Structural Steel > A709_50

  • OpenBrIM Bridge Objects > Steel Material DB (US) > Structural Steel > A709_50W

  • OpenBrIM Bridge Objects > Steel Material DB (US) > Reinforcement Steel > A615_60

  • OpenBrIM Bridge Objects > Concrete Material DB (US) > US AASHTO > Fc_4ksi

Assign a Stress-Strain model to Fc_4ksi by clicking the three-dots and selecting Edit

Select Stress/Strain model as Mander Concrete

Click Save

Repeat the same steps from 4 to 6 for A615_60 and select Stress/Strain model as Bilinear Steel

Define a new material manually as RigidMaterial.

Follow the below steps to import a material from the database.

Go to Properties/Materials.

In 1st row, click-three-dots icon  under Name and click Import Material.

  • Material Type > Steel.

From Database drop-down, select Steel Material DB (US).

Select Category as Structural Steel.

Select Asset as A709_50.

Click Import.

Check the imported material placed in 1st row including the mechanical properties.

  • Material Type > Concrete.

From Database drop-down, select Concrete Material DB (US).

Select Category as Cube.

Select Asset as FcCube_4ksi.

Check the change in Materials data spreadsheet.

Follow the below steps to include a rigid material definition.

Go to any column of steel/concete material row.

Click on three-dots icon  of any cell of the row. Select Edit MaterialName.

Edit for reinforcing steel:

Select from Type drop-down as Reinforcing Steel.

From Stress-Strain Model drop-down, select Bilinear Steel.

Click Save.

Edit for concrete materials.

Select from Type drop-down as Concrete.

From Stress-Strain Model drop-down, select Mander Concrete.
