1

This object serves multiple purposes, including defining unfactored result cases for AASHTO-based combinations, filtering staged construction results by load type, extracting incremental/ cumulative results from staged construction analysis, and combining transient loads such as wind loads, live loads to identify the most critical load effects.

The Result Extraction Cases generated through this process will be utilized in the "Limit States" section.

2

When selecting result cases from a Staged Construction Analysis, there are several options available to extract results:
Incremental=No → Extracts the cumulative results from the selected stage
Incremental=Yes → Extracts the incremental results from the selected stage

Filter By Load Type=None → Extracts the incremental or cumulative results from the selected stage
Filter By Load Type=Dead Load→ Extracts the incremental/cumulative dead load results from the selected stage. To perform this operation correctly, it is important to ensure that the load types are correctly assigned to stages.

Envelope=Yes → Finds the critical case from the cases specified in the Cases and Factors column. However, if only one result case is defined in this column, the selection of "yes" or "no" for the envelope will not affect the results.
Envelope=NoLinear result combinations operate by summing the results of multiple cases specified in the Cases and Factors column. Factors can be applied to the cases to achieve a weighted linear combination. However, if only one result case is defined in this column, the selection of "yes" or "no" for the envelope will not affect the results.

Extreme Effects(Transient Loads)=Yes/No Selecting this option will exclude the selected result case from the combination if its value in the enveloped column is positive for minimums or negative for maximums. It is recommended to select "

No" for permanent loads and "

Yes" for transient loads. Choosing EE=Yes for permanent loads may lead to incorrect results since the result may be excluded from the maximum or minimum results.

Navigate to Combinations > Result Extraction Cases

3

Enter a name as DC1_Sub for the Result Extraction Case you want to identify

Then Click three-dots icon on Filter by Load Type cell and click Select.

4

Select Dead load type for “DCSub1” as in the figure

5

Set DC1_Sub's Envelope to Yes.

As a result of an analysis with an Envelope parameter, the most critical value is selected.

For the DC1_sub result extraction data (unffactored load case) , ensure that the "Incremental" and "Transient Loads (Extreme Effects)" parameters remain constant (NO).

6

Click three-dots icon on Cases | Factors cell and click edit.

To visualize the Dead load in the Result extraction cases,
Indicate which of the previously defined construction stages are effective for the unfactored load case in this section.

7

Assign the appropriate Construction Stages for the DC1_Sub Result Extraction data (unfactored load case) in the combobox.

Click three-dots icon on Case and click Select to select construction stage.

Select (Construction Stages) Case for DC1_Sub as in the figure.

Once you have added the cases, enter the corresponding Factor data for each of them.

8

Repeat the same steps from 3 to 7 for the second and other Result Extraction Cases.

Enter the Result Extraction Cases as in the figure
